The rise in allergies and asthma in the United States is striking. More than 56 million Americans currently suffer from allergies and allergic diseases. Whatever your allergy symptom, whether it is coughing, sneezing, congestion, wheezing, runny nose, hives, sore throat, watery itchy eyes, headaches, or generalized fatigue, the CapitalCare Allergy, Asthma & Immunology team can help. We are committed to the care of children 5 years and older and adults with allergic, asthmatic, and immunologic diseases.

A native of Niskayuna, NY, Dr. Kemp Bundy is a board certified Allergist Immunologist who returns to the Capital District after receiving internal medicine and specialty training in allergy and immunology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Bundy believes in taking time with each patient to carefully explore the spectrum of allergic diseases and treatment options available. His approach begins with a careful history to help uncover environmental triggers and other medical conditions that may aggravate underlying allergies and asthma and develop a customized treatment plan for each patient. It is his goal to help educate patients so that they can understand and control their allergy and asthma symptoms and regain their optimal quality of life.

Immunotherapy helps reduce hay fever symptoms in about 80-85% of people with allergic rhinitis.

Sinusitis accounts for approximately 20% of office visits to specialists in allergy and immunology.

There are 15-24% of people in the United States that experience acute urticaria (hives) and/or angioedema (swelling) at some point in their lives.

Life-threatening reactions to insect stings occur in 0.4% to 0.8% of children and 3% of adults.

More than 3 million people in the United States report being allergic to peanuts, tree nuts or both.

About 70% of people with asthma also have allergies.

In a recent survey, over 50% of homes had at least 6 detectable allergens present.

Allergic rhinitis (hay fever) is estimated to affect nearly 60 million people in the United States, and its prevalence is increasing.

Atopic dermatitis (Eczema) affects between 10% and 20% of children and 1% to 3% of adults.
